once upon a distant fellow,
lived a canary, bright and yellow.
this very fellow swore to keep it a secret,
from the parents and elders that challenged his mind.
they were astonished that such a fine young gentleman
could keep such a gentle young creature, so fine in his posession,
in a backpack.
he kept this canary, in it's cute yellow suit, in his backpack,
packed quite tight to his back.
but in real life/reality, the insides were a captive graveyard
other pets had seen these fabrics, but never returned to surface.
it was no secret to his parents and elders, his past mistakes
they were marked spots. toothpicks in the ground above every miniature
coffin carefully planted beneath the wilow tree.
despite his previous carelessness and lack of morality,
somewhere within him his guilt overcame his sickness.
moral ethic overwhelmed and made him promise to be best behaved.
he kept that canary safer than safe, alive and well and up to date.
the bird would have highly prefered a cage to this imprisonment.
it's only wish was to be able to find the culprit and clip his wings,
as the culprit did to him. this wasn't probable.
this bird was as good as gone, small brains simply can't comprehend
much more than bird vs. worm intellect anyhow.
and this was all so much more than that.
the packpack contained him, and restrained him.
he was now the worm.
one day, after much exhaustion, to the boy's suprise,
the canary broke free and rose to the skies.
the zipper had slipped,
the boy had lost grip
on what he had thought
would never had ripped
from his hands.
he had tried so very hard,
so keep the canary safe and barred.
the canary's eyes looked smiling and kind,
the boy had no movement at this point in time.
he was focused on the eyes of the bird,
they taunted him without a word.
for one single second,
that boy stopped to stare
at the most beautiful creature
taking first flight in the air.
the canary cast an invisible smile, he refused to part on a shy note.
with this in mind, he perched on a nearby branch.
the grey sky blew a breeze that wanted to carry the bird away,
but the canary fought it with his colour and strength, and held on to the branch.
the breeze rustled the bird out of comfort, stealing one of it's feathers.
feather floats to boy.
boy catches feather.
and in his hand, was nature vs. man.
